Green Valley, Arizona

Green Valley, Arizona, is an unincorporated retirement village located in the Santa Cruz River Valley, about half way between Tucson, to the North, and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, to the South.

The community of neighborhoods was founded in 1964, and has a current population of around 20,000 full and part-time residents. The elevation ranges from 2,900 to about 3,000 feet.

Located in Pima County, Green Valley is just a few minutes South of Tucson, and two hours South of Phoenix.

There are many scenic attractions in the area including Spanish Missions, the Titan II Missile Museum, Kitt Peak Observatory, Madera Canyon, and Historic Tubac, an artist colony just to the South.

Green Valley has ten recreation centers managed by Green Valley Recreation, one of the major employers in the area. These facilities have swimming pools, exercise rooms, tennis courts, and house a variety of clubs ranging from ceramics, computers and woodworking.

The nearest airport is Tucson International Airport, located just 16 miles North. The Phoenix airport is just two hours away, and there is shuttle services available.

Golfing is big in Green Valley with eight public, semi-public and private courses.

There are three major motels and many fine restaurants which serve business persons and travelers.
